Heliconia opened in 2001 we felt there was a high demand for a different approach to flower arranging in Indonesia and particularly Bali where we are situated. Gede Arya the owner approached Michael Pritchard an Australian with over 20 years experience in the flower industry in Sydney and together we formed a team and trained our talented designers to create interesting and unusual designs. Most of the flowers used by Heliconia are grown within Indonesia but if necessary we will also import exotic blooms for a particular function or client.

Our use of the exotic is quite amazing, often using fresh bamboo, natural or sprayed, with tropical fruits and unusual combinations of natural material.

Our innovative floral designs have set the standard for the flower industry in Bali and beyond, we have extensive experience in organizing and orchestrating world class events and creating personal themes for special functions.

Our approach to flowers in general is contemporary and each design is a one off creation that can stand as an art form on its own, our design team is continually searching for new inspiration and ideas and each of lthem have developed their own style.

Our clients include Ku de ta, Papparazzi, Double Six, Bacio, Living Room, Westin Hotel, Como Shambala Estate, Four Seasons and Nikko Hotel to name a few. We also did the wedding flowers for anggun C Sasmi a famous Indonesian singer at Four Seasons and the flower set ups for the former president Megawati Sukarno Putri to name just a few. The Australian Government chose Heliconia to design the site and create the flower set up for the first anniversary of Bali Bombing in 2003 where guests were invited from all over the world. We also supply most of the top end private villas and handle most of the large events and weddings in hotels on the island with clients from all over the world.

Our design team was chosen by Indigo Pearl – a boutique hotel that re-opened in Phuket Thailand in November 2006. We completed the training and total set up for the floral department of this up market boutique hotel (300 rooms) including setting up a retail gallery style flower shop in the lobby, back of house flower department and flower designs for all public areas, rooms and spa etc. One of heliconia’s senior staff has remained at Indigo Pearl for a period of two years to oversee design and quality control and remains there to this day with follow up visits on a regular basis by the consultant to Heliconia - Michael Pritchard.

In January 2007 we visited the Park Hyatt in Goa, India – to look at their in house flower department and in October 2007 the project was completed. We covered the areas of all room set ups, public areas and restaurants, spa, specific festivals, Heliconia's signature styled weddings and various function and event set ups.
